I think I could safely say it is common knowledge that I love colors! In all shapes and forms; pastel, neon, metallic, dark, vibrant; you name it.
I’m just naturally drawn to colors in my everyday life.
I think this has a big link with my heritage and culture… one way one could clearly describe Mexico would be “colorful”; it is the visual representation of our state of mind which is very cheerful.
Colors are everywhere! From the architecture, to the food and traditions such as the day of the dead.
I come from Mexico City, which is a metropolis and therefore it no longer portrays (that much) the colors of Mexico.
That is why I LOVE going to little towns that have preserved a lot more our heritage dating back to the Prehispanic era.
Now that I live in Paris and come only for a few days to visit my family, I don’t have as much time to go travel to the little colorful and magical towns spread throughout the country… so I take it upon myself to visit the little corners within the buzzing city, that still hold a bit of that heritage I was talking about.
Coyoacan is exactly that! I would say it is the most colorful area in the city and my favorite one. When you are there, it almost feels as if you were at a small town rather than a big city… you can stroll, eat from the food stands offering typical Mexican treats, listen to the Mariachi singing in front of the Church, dance in the Gazibo, shop at the little artisanal market, play in the park, drink Mezcal at a local bar, etc.
I don’t know you, but doesn’t that sound like a fun time?
As some of you might know, I am now in Mexico visiting my family.
I’m not updating as much as I wish because this really is family time; no fancy plans or exotic trips in mind… I love being here with the people I love most, enjoying the amazing weather!
But I gotta be honest with you, I’m also going through some mayor FOMO… It’s so silly I know!
Anyways, these are a few photos I took in Coyoacan on last year’s visit, I really hope you like them!
They got me really excited about going back in the coming days 🙂
Hope you’re having a great time during the holidays!
